PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining machining defects of a cast product, which method can effectively utilize a defect data showing the position of the defect obtained by a casting simulation, etc. in the case of manufacturing an actual cast product. SOLUTION: The method for determining machining defects of the cast product includes a defect generation predicting step of measuring the distance between a machining portion and a detect from the defect data showing the shape of the defect and the machining portion data showing the shape of a machining portion to be formed on the cast product, and then determining that the machining portion and the defect communicates with each other when the defect exists within a required distance from the outside surface of the machining portion. In other words, the defect data is not shown by simply being overlapped with the shape of the cast product, but the attention is payed to the relation between the defect and the machining portion to be especially considered to cause a problem if the defect exists near the machining portion. That is to say, the existence or absence of the generation of the defect to communicate with the machining portion is predicted and determining by calculating the distance between the defect and the machining portion and by determining whether or not the distance is within a preset required value.
