PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve positioning accuracy on a position where a pole in a free zone is retreated in relation to an inner teeth of a ratchet. SOLUTION: A joint device (reclining device 1) connecting a frame FB1 and a frame FC1 and putting them under an unlock condition permitting relative rotation and a lock condition blocking the same includes a ratchet 10 including an inner teeth 12 joined to the frame FB1, poles 30a-30d including external teeth 32a-d meshing with the inner teeth 12, a guide 20 retaining the pole 30a-30d joined to the frame FB1, and a cam 40 pressing the pole 30a-30d against the inner teeth 12. Projection parts 72, 82 are provided on free zone members 70, 80, the external teeth 32d of the pole 30d includes length extending to an axial direction position where the projection parts 72, 82 are provided and interferes with the projection parts 72, 82 and is retained under the unlock condition where the external teeth 32a-32d of the poles 30a-30d retreat against the inner teeth 12.
