An organic electroluminescent device and a driving method thereof are provided to make pixels emit the light at the luminance corresponding to the gray scale by varying the discharge level according to the gray scale by using a variable resistance. An organic electroluminescent device includes a panel(200) having pixels(E11~E44) arranged in each emission region where data lines(D1~D4) and scan lines(S1~S4) cross each other; a data storage unit(220) storing RGB(Red,Green,Blue) data successively input from the outside; a discharge control unit(250) for generating a control signal according to the RGB data supplied from the data storage unit; and a discharge unit(240) for discharging the data lines up to the discharge level corresponding to the RGB data, according to the control signal transmitted from the discharge control unit. |
