<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser beam machining apparatus capable of suppressing electric power consumption as well as making intensity of a laser beam constant. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises an opening/closing means that is arranged on the optical path of a laser beam emitted from a laser generating means and reaching a condensing lens and that alternatively intercepts or transmits the laser beam. A control means makes the laser beam converge on a workpiece and, immediately before (t1) the machining operation on a workpiece, drives an exciting laser light source, with the opening/closing means closed. Then, on the condition that the laser medium is in an excitation state high enough to generate a laser beam of an intensity (H2) making machining of the workpiece possible, the control means controls to release the opening/closing means to transmit the laser beam. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
