PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply oil to a contact part of a subcam and a cam follower to lubricate with simple structure in a lift variable valve mechanism of an internal combustion engine, which is provided with the subcam swingably supported by a movable spindle displaceable in a plane perpendicular to a rotation axis of a valve mechanism cam, driven and swung by the valve mechamism cam, and a cam follower interlocked and connected to an engine valve and driven by the subcam so as to change the lift amount of the engine valve by displacing the movable spindle. SOLUTION: A contact surface 45 comprising in a row a lift 45a to revolve the cam follower 18 and a base circle 45b, whose distance from the spindle of the movable spindle is an equidistance to hold the cam follower 18 at standstill, is formed in the subcam 17 having an oil reservoir 46 opened upward at the upper surface to reserve oil.
