PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of detecting each toner concentration with high accuracy, without having to limit the detectable toner concentration of each developer and capable of achieving manufacturing cost reduction, and to provide an image forming method. SOLUTION: The toner concentration of each developers is detected, based on corresponding sensor output value that gives the inclination of a specified value or below in each of correlation curves depicting the correlations between a plurality of input values supplied to magnetic type sensors 61, 62, 63 and 64 capable of changing input voltages and capable of outputting sensor output values, changed according to the input voltages and magnetic states of the corresponding developers and the plurality of corresponding sensor output values transmitted by the magnetic type sensors 61, 62, 63 and 64 supplied with the plurality of input voltages.
