PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly and effectively prevent an overcurrent with a comparatively simple circuit. SOLUTION: A drive circuit 101 for applying a predetermined driving current to a device 21 has a current source 1 for supplying a driving current Iop to the device 21; a variable resistance switch P1 connected between the current source 1 and the device 21; switch control circuits 7, 5 and 3 for monitoring the current of a connection line 15a between the variable resistance switch P1 and the current source 1, controlling ON and OFF of the variable resistance switch P1 in response to a monitoring current, and making a time of transition for the variable resistance switch P1 from an OFF state to an ON state longer than a time for transition from the ON state to the OFF state in the control.
