PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal projection system having identical optical paths upon projection. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal projection system includes; a dichroic mirror which separates a polarized light source into two primary color light beams and a single primary color light beam and outputting the light beams; a reflection prism which receives the single primary color light, then, reflects and outputs the light; first and second polarizing elements which polarize the two primary color light beams and the single primary color light beam, respectively; a dichroic mirror element which is arranged on one side of the first polarizing element so as to separate the two primary color light beams; a modulating apparatus which is arranged on one side of the dichroic mirror element and which separately modulates the two primary color light beams and the single primary color light beam so as to have polarity opposite to each other, thereafter, reflects and outputs the modulated beams; and a projection lens which is arranged on one side of the first polarizing element so as to project and output the beams to a screen, and then, display an image.
