PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine enabling an increase in the reliability and durability of an endless timing transmission belt by reducing the effect of the variation of crank angular velocity. SOLUTION: This V-engine 11 formed of a first bank part 13 and a second bank part 14 in a V-type comprises a first idle shaft 23 driven by a crankshaft 12 and a second idle shaft 24 driven by the first idle shaft 23. The first idle shaft 23 drives first valve camshafts 17 and 18 of the first bank part 13 through a first timing transmission chain 27.
