A method for altering images applied to surfaces monitors a selected section of the image and compares it with the required image to generate correction signals. These are used to re-apply a corrected image, e.g. after applying a protective/cover coating to the original image. The system operates on a pixel basis and at least two control points are monitored on the actual and on the required images to ensure correct alignment.
