PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid occurrences of inconveniences due to incompatibility of application for an image forming apparatus and application for the image forming apparatus with respect to the image forming apparatus and the application for the image forming apparatus of a variety of types and versions.

SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus including an application is provided with a determining means for determining whether a function to be used by the application is executable by checking first information indicating the function to be used by the application against second information indicating a function supported by the image forming apparatus to change operation of the application according to a determination result when the application starts in the image forming apparatus. The determining means is automatically updated if the determining means does not support a structure of the first information or the second information.
