<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modular mechanism for protecting fiber optical cables. <P>SOLUTION: A method and modular mechanisms 600, 900 and 1002 are provided for protecting fiber optic cables 1004. The modular mechanisms include such inner tubes and outer tubes as (tubular) inner members 100 and 102 for receiving the fiber optic cables, and (tubular) outer container members 500, 602, 700, 800 and 902 receiving and retaining the inner members.
