PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift indication method for a transmission making a driver select the optimal gear position according to travel condition of a vehicle provided with a diesel engine and a manual transmission. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method for indicating the driver shift of the transmission according to the travel condition of the vehicle provided with the diesel engine and the manual transmission. Base gear position predetermined according to vehicle speed is calculated, target gear position is calculated by correcting the base gear position according to fuel injection quantity, engine rotation speed and vehicle acceleration, indicates up-shift if the target gear position is higher than actual gear position and indicates down-shift if the target gear position is lower than actual gear position.
