PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool capable of changing its posture against a spindle, high in working precision of a work, hard to generate vibration and heat, long in service life and low at cost and a tool holder. SOLUTION: This machine tool has a working tool 100 to work the work, an electric motor 180 an output shaft of which is connected to the working tool 100 and to rotate the working tool 100, a first holding part 65 to hold the working tool 100 and the electric motor 180, an installing part 62 to be installed on the spindle 46, a generator 170 to generate electric power to drive the electric motor 180, a second holding part 85 to hold the installing part 62 free to rotate, to hold the generator 170 and to be engaged with a non-rotating part 47 of the machine tool and a posture adjusting mechanism to connect the first holding part 65 and the second holding part 85 to each other free to adjust an inclination of the first holding part 65 against the second holding part 85.
