<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight assembly capable of improving a heat radiation characteristic, and to provide a liquid crystal display apparatus that has the same. <P>SOLUTION: This backlight assembly includes a planar fluorescent lamp, a heat-radiating member and a bottom chassis. The planar fluorescent lamp includes a lamp body for generating light, a first external electrode and a second external electrode formed on an upper surface and a lower surface of the lamp body, respectively. The heat-radiating member is coupled to the planar fluorescent lamp so as to contact the first and second external electrodes. The bottom chassis has a bottom portion and a side portion housed therein, to receive the planar fluorescent lamp and contacts the heat-radiation member. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
