SUBSTRATE FOR IMAGE RECORDING MATERIAL, ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD AND IMAGE RECORDING MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for image recording material having less small holes (minute recesses) generated after coating a thermoplastic layer on a base paper, and to provide its manufacturing method and the image recording material.

SOLUTION: The substrate for the image recording material comprises the base paper and the thermoplastic resin layer formed on at least one face of the base paper. The base paper is processed by a calender using rolls having surface temperature of 200°C or higher. The rolls have surface layers containing at lease one selected from cermet materials. The cermet material is a tungsten carbide cermet which is preferably one selected from tungsten carbide-cobalt, tungsten carbide-cobalt chromium and tungsten carbide-nickel chromium.
