A terminal device having a contents reproduction function and an operating method for the terminal device are provided to perform simultaneous reproduction between terminal devices by transmitting contents to the second terminal device according to a simultaneous reproduction request and enabling the second terminal device to receive the contents and to output the received contents through the particular second output device. A contents storing device(201) stores one or more contents. A contents management unit(202) allows a user to select one of the contents, and reads the selected contents by referring to the contents storing device(201). A contents output unit(203) outputs the read contents through the particular first output device. A user interface unit(204) receives a simultaneous reproduction request for transmitting the outputted contents to the second terminal device and performing simultaneous reproduction from the user. A contents transmitting unit(205) transmits the outputted contents to the second terminal device through the particular first communication port. The second terminal device receives the contents from a terminal device through the particular second communication port, and outputs the received contents through the particular second output device.
