METHOD FOR MANAGING SESSION FOR SUPPORTING MULTICAST SERVICE IN WIBRO

A session management method for supporting a multicast service in the portable Internet is provided to reduce the time required for creating a multicast tree that considerably affects an initial connection of multicast. A multicast connection of PHY(Physical Layer)/MAC(Medium Access Control) defined in the IEEE802.16, is made(S200). A multicast group is managed by using the IGMP(Internet Group Management Protocol) in order to join to a multicast channel(S210). A multicast tree is created to transmit multicast data from a source to an AR(Access Router)(S220). A multicast session is generated at the multicast channel to provide a multicast service to a user(S230). It is checked whether the user releases the connection to the multicast session(S240). When every user releases the connection to the multicast session, a non-member session is maintained(S250). When the use of the multicast session is requested while the non-member session is maintained, the multicast service is provided to the user by using the non-member session(S260,S270).
