REFRIGERATOR AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME

A refrigerator and a method of controlling the same are provided to reduce time consumed to inspect whether a valve is normally operated. A refrigerator includes a plurality of storage chambers(104-108), a valve(116), and a controller(102). The valve has at least one inlet port, and a plurality of discharge ports for supplying coolant into each storage chamber. The controller controls the valve to open only one of the discharge ports when coolant is supplied into at least two storage chambers of the plurality of storage chambers. The valve has a plurality of control steps for supplying coolant into each storage chamber, and further includes a stepping motor for opening only one discharge port on each control step.
