Door comprises a protective device assigned to a control mechanism (38) which on operation of the door handle (17) prevents transfer of the pivoting movement of the door handle to the control mechanism. An independent claim is also included for a domestic appliance comprising the above door. Preferred Features: The protective device is a blocking element which can be adjusted into a blocking position to prevent the pivoting movement of the handle, a freewheel which uncouples the handle from the control mechanism, or a spring element which absorbs movement of the handle.
