发明名称 Machine for inserting pouring spouts into containers
摘要 799,563. Making and attaching spouts; angular bending; seaming. SEAL-SPOUT CORPORATION. Dec. 3, 1956 [Dec. 5, 1955], No. 36854/56. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). A machine for mounting a pouring spout in a container wall comprises means for positioning the container at a work-station and a reciprocable ram co-operating with an anvil movable into and out of the container, to push the spout into a prepared zone of the wall. A continuous strip X of spout blanks, Fig. 21, is fed by spring- pressed feed dogs 8 pivotally mounted in a block 6 which is reciprocated by a spring-loaded lever 11 driven from a camshaft 17, Fig. 14. The strip passes between plates 2 and 3 mounted on a frame A attached to a main frame B, Fig. 1, to form a guideway 1 containing a flat spring 5 for frictionally holding the blank strip. The blanks are fed one at a time between a fixed die 20 and a cam-operated reciprocating die 21 having wings 32 to shape spout-wings c and punches 30 to form prongs b on the body portion of the spout, Figs. 18 and 21. A spring plunger 35 engages an extension 33 of the plate 2 on forward movement of the die 21 to hold the strip tightly during the die action and subsequently to act as a work stripper on the return stroke. Formed spouts pass upwards to a spout-receiving channel 39 in a spout-holder 38, Fig. 16, and simultaneously with the formation of the next spout a shearing blade 37 mounted on the die block 21 shears the formed spout free of the strip. The severed spout is supported vertically in the channel 39 by a dog 49 mounted on a bar 41 by a pin 50, the dog being tripped clear of the spout-body by a fixed block 58 just before the insertion of the spout into a container wall by the cam-operated reciprocating ram P, Fig. 18. An anvil block 78, Fig. 5, coacts with the ram to support the container wall and to clinch the prongs b, Fig. 18. A cam 69 and a lever 71 located in the vertically adjustable frame " B " move the slidably mounted anvil into and retract it from the opentopped containers when they are stationary at the work-station. The feed discs j, Figs. 1, 4, are intermittently rotated in steps of 90 degrees by a Geneva gear 67-68 and receive containers in recesses j from a conveyer " F " and diverts them on an adjustable table G through the workstation and back on to the conveyer, curved guides 80 and 81 being provided to prevent the containers from flying out of the recesses. A spring-loaded lever 92, Fig. 21, holds the feeddogs 8 inoperative until containers are fed to the work-station moving an arm 88 of a bell crank lever 86 which action releases the dogs to the feed position. Specification 545,192 is referred to.
