The present patent application relates to a dye composition for dyeing keratin fibres, in particular human keratin fibres such as the hair, comprising, in a suitable dyeing medium, at least one methine direct dye containing at least two 6-membered rings. The present patent application also relates to the dyeing process using this composition and to its uses, and also to a family of methine direct compounds.
