An apparatus for automatically opening and closing a gas valve using sound and heat and a method of the same are provided to improve the visual and hearing performance by outputting the visual and hearing outputs according to the formation of the numeral display unit and the LED output unit. An apparatus for automatically opening and closing a gas valve using sound and heat is composed of a sensing unit sensing the sound caused when igniting the microwave oven and the heat cooled when turned off; and a controller supplying/blocking the gas by the sensing signal of the sensing unit. The controller contains an MCU(Main Control Unit,40) for controlling the opening and closing apparatus for operating the turning on and off of the microwave oven, and an input unit(110), and an output unit. The input unit has a microphone(30) sensing the sound and heat caused when igniting the microwave oven, an amplifier(50) amplifying the signal inputted from the microphone, and a frequency analyzer(160).
