A navigation system and method for displaying direction information to the destination are provided to enable a user to know the direction of the destination even in guiding routes having a lot of intersections, access roads, and U-turns by displaying the destination direction at the present position. A navigation system for displaying direction information to the destination includes a GPS(Global Positioning System) module(50) for measuring the present position and the progressive direction of a vehicle and generating and outputting information on the present position and the progressive direction; a control unit(10) for receiving the information output from the GPS module, deciding the direction of the destination input by a user at the present position, and generating and outputting destination direction information for the determined destination direction, to a display unit(40); and the display unit for receiving the destination direction information and then displaying map data and the destination direction information together. |
