A BD RECORDER AND METHOD TO RECORD AND PLAYBACK AT THE SAME TIME USING IT

A BD(Blue-ray Disc) recorder and a simultaneous recording and reproducing method using the same are provided to mount a BD having a storage space which is broader than an existing DVD(Digital Video Disc) to store images of high image quality. A digital tuner(11) receives a digital broadcasting signal, and converts the received digital broadcasting signal into an MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group) stream. The first BD formatter(21) converts format of the MPEG stream into a format required for the stream to be stored in a BD. A recording and reproducing unit records the converted MPEG stream in the BD, or reads the MPEG stream recorded in the BD. The second BD formatter(22) recovers the format of the MPEG stream read in the recording and reproducing unit as the format before being converted. An A/V decoder(15) decompresses the recovered MPEG stream, and converts the decompressed MPEG stream into a video signal and an audio signal. An output unit(19) outputs the video signal and the audio signal.
