A service method and system for notifying a video call service area in a wideband mobile communication network are provided to enhance user convenience because a user of an originating terminal does not need to inquire whether a terminal of the other party is available for a video call. A mobile terminal(110) performs call-origination for inquiring about the phone number of a terminal of the other party and whether the terminal is available for a video call, and is notified about whether the destination terminal is available for the video call. An HLR(Home Location Register)(132) receives location information of the mobile terminal(110) and the terminal of the other party and performs functions for registration recognition, registration deletion, and location checking. An MSC(130) performs a function of performing a video call service as well as a voice call and a soft switching function for processing a call at a high speed. A video notifying server(170) informs the mobile terminal(110) when the destination terminal enters a video call service area.
