Provided is a porous refractory having high thermal shock resistance which does not use chromium oxide generating environmental problem, has appropriate porosity and pore size, and improved crystal structure and fine construction, and which uniformly maintains a pressure of input gas by inhibiting a fine crack, and can be used many times and exhibits excellent bubbling effect. The porous refractory comprises 10-40 parts by weight of sintered alumina or electro-fused alumina of spherical or square type, 50-80 parts by weight of sintered mullite or electro-fused mullite of spherical or square type, 5-10 parts by weight of plastic alumina, and 2-6 parts by weight of clay and frit. The sintered alumina or electro-fused alumina of spherical or square type has particle size of 1-0.5 mm, and the sintered mullite or electro-fused mullite has particle size of 0.4-0.05 mm, and the plastic alumina has particle size of 50 micrometer or less. The refractory comprises 65-88 parts by weight of Al2O3 and 35-12 parts by weight of SiO2.
