A multi-cyclone dust collecting apparatus for a vacuum cleaner is provided to prevent the sucked and discharged air from being collided, thereby increasing collecting efficiency, and separate and remove the fine impurities by consecutively passing the sucked air through the first and second cyclone units. A multi-cyclone dust collecting apparatus for a vacuum cleaner comprises: a first cyclone unit(10) making the sucked air as the rising whirling air current, centrifugally separating the impurities contained in the air, and containing an air communicating member(40) where the intermediate clean air is discharged; a second cyclone unit(50) mounted under the first cyclone unit to contain plural second cyclones(60) for downwardly sucking the intermediate clean air and centrifugally separating the impurities remaining in the intermediate clean air; and an impurity discharge member(24) installed from the upper part of the second cyclone unit to the air communicating member so as to discharge the impurities separated from the second cyclone unit to the upper part of the air communicating member. The first cyclone unit contains a first cyclone body(20) where the sucked air is swirled, a first dust collecting chamber(30) for receiving the impurities discharged at the first cyclone body, and an air suction pipe(45) installed under the first cyclone body.
