A system for enhancing the accuracy of a radio position fix, utilizing computational techniques including neural networks (100), mapped grid coefficients as input to a set of simultaneous o r differential equations, and table lookup of correction coefficients for known low accuracy positions. Receiver array (10 2) synchronization, such that all system elements in a particular coverage area will obtain a time reference appropriate for time of flight radio location measurements, is disclosed. Techniques to enhance the accuracy of position f ix references, which are located in a coverage area, as well as a mobile reference carried by a search team are disclosed. A system for guiding a search team to an unknown positioned transmitter (103) that is located within a structure is taught using the present techniques, as well as training a central computing unit (100) by using actuarial data, so that mul ti- path errors resulting from fixed or mobile obstacles may be reduced. |
