A method for limiting use of electronic devices by using a fingerprint is provided to automatically set the use environment values related to the approved users through the fingerprints. When there is the input of a fingerprint, a microprocessor receives user's fingerprint data transmitted from a remote controller(S300) and examines whether the inputted fingerprint data are coincided with the previously set user's fingerprint data(S302). If the inputted fingerprint data are coincided with the previously set user's fingerprint data, the microprocessor reads the electronic device use environment value stored by users and applies the read value to a digital television receiver(S304,S308).
