An apparatus and a method for detecting an advertisement of a moving picture and a computer-readable recording medium for storing a computer program to control the apparatus are provided to skip an undesired advertisement and remove the advertisement of television broadcasting. A buffer(100) buffers color information of the inputted shots through an input terminal(IN4) from a scene conversion detecting member. A similarity calculating member(102) reads color information belongs to a search window among the color information stored in the buffer, calculates the similarity of shots by means of the read color information and outputs the calculated similarity to a mixing member(104). The mixing member compares the calculated similarity with the critical value and mixes with the compared two shots. A separating member(106) separates the mixed result with reference to the visual event component and outputs the separated result through an output terminal as segments.
