A mobile communication terminal having a function of preventing a wrong operation of a power key is provided to check whether a folder/sliding phone is open/closed when a power key signal is inputted, to be turned on immediately in case that the folder/sliding phone is open, and to be turned on only if the power key is pushed for a long time in case that the folder/sliding phone is folded/closed. A mobile communication terminal having a function of preventing a wrong operation of a power key comprises a usage state sensor(12), a power key inputting unit(14), and a controller(10). The usage state sensor(12) senses a usage state of the mobile communication terminal. The power key inputting unit(14) selects either a power-on or a power-off. The controller(10) checks a usage state of the mobile communication terminal via the sensor(12) in case that a system turn-on is selected via the power key inputting unit(14), and turns on the mobile communication terminal only if a selection state of the power key inputting unit is maintained for a time more than a reference in case that the mobile communication terminal is not in a usage state.
