An injection molding apparatus having a separation type mold and a controlling method thereof are provided to prevent deformation cause due to residual stresses by permitting a mold to have parts with different temperatures through the heat transfer heaters. A mold comprises cavity mold(20), a core mold, an injection unit, and an injection control unit(310). The core mold includes an intermediate core mold plate(30) having a thin thickness; a core mold support plate(40) having a thick thickness; a guide pin to be inserted into a first guide hole formed at the cavity mold so as to restrict the intermediate core mold plate so that the intermediate core mold plate is movable only in forward and rearward directions; a first elastic member interposed between the intermediate core mold plate and the core mold support plate so as to separate the intermediate core mold plate from the core mold support plate by elasticity when the core mold moves in a rearward direction; a first heating unit arranged on the separated surface of the intermediate core mold plate so as to heat the intermediate core mold plate; a first cooling unit for cooling the core mold support plate; and a mold temperature control unit for controlling temperature of the intermediate core mold during injection by controlling operation of the first heating unit and the first cooling unit.
