A low pressure mercury vapour discharge lamp which can also contain argon and can be fluorescent contains an amalgam consisting of a ternary system having a melting point higher than 90 DEG C. The ternary system can be Hg-Sn-Cd, Hg-Bi-Cd, Hg-In-Tl, Hg-In-Zn or Hg-In-Cd. Ranges of the proportions of the constituents are stated and shown in a triangular coordinate diagram. |
