PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress moire generation to a dot image and to sharply reproduce a line-drawing part such as characters.

SOLUTION: Spatial filter processing 21 with characteristics for sharpening an image edge is performed to input image data by taking width of values which can be taken by the output image data of one pixel wider than width of values can be taken by input image data of one pixel and the image data in which the width of values which can be taken by one pixel after the spatial filter processing is taken as wide is converted into image data in which the width of values which can be taken by one pixel after performing resolution conversion to high density as narrow. Gamma correction 23 is performed to image data in which the width of values which can be taken by one pixel after performing resolution conversion 22 to the high density is taken as narrow and the resolution conversion is performed to low density after the gamma correction. Or the image data to which the resolution conversion is performed to the high density is converted into image data in which the width of values which can be taken by one pixel is taken as narrow after performing the gamma correction.
