<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct with a high precision a color shift caused by a positional shift with an embodiment which keeps an image enlarged/reduced in the main scanning direction and its magnification of enlargement/reduction changed in accordance with the position of the main scanning direction without remarkably increasing a load of calculation. <P>SOLUTION: The amount of the color shift in the main scanning direction on each color caused by the change in the magnification in the main scanning direction is sensed at a plurality of detecting positions separated in the main scanning direction. Based on an approximating equation in which it is regarded that the magnification in the main scanning direction changes linearly in accordance with the position in the main scanning direction, the magnifications ML, MR and MC in the main scanning direction at each position in the main scanning direction are estimated from the amounts of the color shift ΔXL, ΔXR and ΔXC at each detecting position, and according to the amount of correction obtained from the magnifications in the main scanning direction at each position in this main scanning direction, the correction processing is performed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
