<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic steering assisting device allowing even the aged etc. inferior to the motion characteristics to drive a vehicle safely by generating proper running of the vehicle automatically without requiring turning a steering wheel of the driver. <P>SOLUTION: The automatic steering assisting device is equipped with a changeover switch 24 to change over into the automatic steering, an assist motor 21 to turn a steering shaft 12 in compliance with changing-over to the automatic steering, stress sensors 28a and 28b to sense the left and right stresses applied to a tie rod 16 from the road surface through the front left and the front right wheel caused by operation of a drive motor 14, a stress calculating device 31 to calculate the force to make equal the left and right stresses upon receiving the sensing result of the stress sensors, line sensors 34a and 34b mounted on a left and a right mirror 34, a position calculating device 35 to calculate the distance from the center of the line sensors to a white line and output the result as a marginal width, and an assist servo amplifier 32 to drive the assist motor upon calculating the turning angle from the outputs etc. of the stress calculating device 31 and the position calculating device 35. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
