PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output an on-screen image by easily changing it corresponding to an HD output or an SD output without increasing a processing load regarding an on-screen display device suitably adapted to a video camera or the like for a broadcasting station. SOLUTION: The on-screen display device uses an on-screen image D3 composed of a prescribed number of horizontal pixels selected from among the number of pixels between a number of the horizontal pixels corresponding to the HD output and those of corresponding to the SD output. Thus, conversion processing corresponding to the number of the horizontal pixels of the HD output and that of corresponding to the number of the horizontal pixels of the SD output can be executed at a simple conversion ratio compared with a conventional one. Consequently, a calculation processing load can be significantly reduced. The degradation of the image quality of the on-screen image D3 can be prevented by an amount equivalent to the amount of executing the conversion processing at the simple conversion ratio compared with the case that the conversion processing is executed at a complicated conversion ratio.
