PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology whereby a preview image in the same coloring as that of a photographed image can be confirmed when illumination light at preview differs from illumination light at main photographing. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus capable of carrying out photographing in interlocking with a strobe unit (20) emitting lights with a plurality of different color temperatures includes: an imaging element (2) for applying photoelectric conversion to an incident light to provide an output of an image signal; first and second custom white balance value storage sections (6, 7) for storing a plurality of white balance values respectively corresponding to the color temperatures; a white balance processing section (5) that uses the white balance value stored in the storage sections corresponding to the color temperature of the light used for preliminary photographing in the case of the preliminary photographing, or uses the white balance value stored in the storage sections corresponding to the color temperature of the light used for main photographing in the case of the main photographing to apply white balance correction to the image signal output from the imaging element; and a monitor (19) for displaying the image whose white balance is corrected.
