PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve focusing capability by improving evaluation value peak detection sensitivity. SOLUTION: When acquiring a new evaluation value, an evaluation value peak detector 105 detects the peak of an evaluation value on whether a ratio of values of the subtracting results exceeds condition constantβby using a candidate of the maximum value of the evaluation value held in an evaluation value maximum value hold 104, subtracting constantαheld in a subtracting constant holding part 106 and the condition constantβheld in a condition constant holding part 107 to subtract the subtracting constantαrespectively from the new evaluation value and the candidate of the maximum value of the evaluation value.
