PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tensile testing method for evaluating the adhesion strength of a coating film to an article to be coated and reducing the evaluation irregularity due to a person for performing evaluation work to perform stable evaluation, and a compact tensile strength measuring instrument used for the tensile testing method and excellent in lightweight properties, portability and operability. SOLUTION: This tensile tester 9 for evaluating the adhesion strength of the coating film 71 to the article 72 to be coated is constituted of a tensile plate 10 moved in the direction separated from the coating film 71 upon the reception of tensile action, the adhesive plate 30 bonded to the coating film 71 through an adhesive 60, the double-side pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet 20 interposed between the tensile plate 10 and the adhesive plate 30 and having pressure-sensitive adhesive strength corresponding to predetermined tensile strength, which satisfies a tensile test acceptance standard and is higher than the adhesive strength of the adhesive 60, and a tensile implement 8 keeping a long screw 50 inserted in a tensile frame 40 comprising channel steel.
