This invention relates to a method of manufacturing a particle board for interior fittings. At least one surface recess is provided in the particle board. The method comprises: providing a mat of particles; providing first and second plates, at least the first plate being non-flat; and forming a particle board by compressing the mat between said first and second plates under heat and pressure, whereby at least one surface recess is formed in a surface of the particle board by means of said first plate. The mat is arranged, and the step of forming is performed, such that the density of non-recessed areas of the particle board is greater than 400 kg /M3 and less than 750 kg /M3. The invention also relates to a particle board manufactured accordingly.
