<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector, with which the light quantity to be extracted from a light source can be adjusted, and unevenness in the illuminance can be improved. <P>SOLUTION: The projector is equipped with an illumination optical system 41 having the light source 411, an optical image forming system having an optical modulator forming the optical image by modulating the luminous flux from the illumination optical system 41, and a projection optical system for enlarging and projecting the optical image. The illumination optical system 41 is equipped with a first lens array 412, which splits the luminous flux from the light source 411 into a plurality of the partial luminous fluxes, a second lens array 413 which superposes each partial luminous flux on an image forming region of the optical modulator, and a superposition lens 415, and a dimmer 45 which is interposed and arranged in between the first and the second lenses arrays 412 and 413 and controls the quantity of incident light on the second lens array 413. The dimmer 45 is equipped with light-reducing members 451, 452 which reduce the quantity of the transmitted light of the incident luminous flux and a moving adjustment section, which supports the light-reducing members freely movably in and out of the optical path of the exit luminous flux of the first lens array 412 and adjusts the moving quantity of the light-reducing members 451, 452. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
