PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method for satisfactorily suppressing a grainy noise, which effectively works not only on a flat area but also on a contour and a vicinity of the area without damaging aesthetic sensibilities for photographed images. SOLUTION: The image processing method suppresses the grainy noise in the photographed image obtained by image digitalization by using an image processing technique with a filtering process with weighted averaging. The method sequentially sets target pixels selected from a group of the pixels composing an image data, calculates a difference value between each of vicinity pixels and the target pixels, which are located in a processing area processed by the image processing technique with the filtering process with weighted averaging for the target pixels, determines a weighted coefficient used for filtering process with weighted averaging in response to the difference value, and obtains a corrective pixel value for the target pixels by implementing the filtering process with weighted averaging using the weighted coefficient.
