PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage treatment apparatus capable of effectively pulverizing even fibrous garbage and garbage which easily floats on a water surface. SOLUTION: The garbage treatment apparatus (1) for pulverizing the garbage together with washing water comprises: a garbage treating chamber (2) where a garbage feeding port (2a) is formed at an upper part; a rotary plate (4) arranged in it; a driving means (6) for rotationally driving it; upper side pulverizing means (8, 10) arranged on the upper side of the rotary plate for pulverizing the garbage fed onto the rotary plate; a discharge part (18) provided with a discharge port formed on the lower side of the rotary plate so as to discharge the garbage and the washing water; water level control means (16, 22, 24) for controlling a water level inside the garbage treating chamber so that the prescribed amount of the garbage and the washing water stay inside the garbage treating chamber; an agitation means (12) for agitating the garbage and the washing water staying on the lower side of the rotary plate inside the garbage treating chamber; and a lower side pulverizing means (14) for pulverizing the garbage staying inside the garbage treating chamber.
