PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electric double layer capacitor in which connection of a positive electrode current collecting plate and a negative electrode current collecting plate is facilitated and electric resistance between the current collecting plates can be reduced. SOLUTION: A positive electrode current collecting electrode 5aa is exposed from a positive electrode current collecting hole 20a of an outer case 1, and a positive electrode seal layer 4a having a positive electrode seal hole 21a smaller than the positive electrode current collecting hole 20a is stuck tightly to the positive electrode current collecting electrode 5aa at that part by a ring-shaped melting portion 4a3. Projecting central portion of a positive electrode current collecting plate 3a is inserted into the outer case 1 through the positive electrode seal hole 21a and the positive electrode current collecting hole 20a from the outside of the left side face of the outer case 1. Central portion of the positive electrode current collecting plate 3a is stuck tightly to the positive electrode current collecting electrode 5aa by a joint 3a1. The positive electrode seal layer 4a is stuck tightly to the outer case 1 around the positive electrode current collecting hole 20a by ring-shaped melting portions 4a1 and 4a2 and stuck tightly to the periphery of the positive electrode current collecting plate 3a.
