PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine oil level adjusting device for storing a proper amount of oil in an oil pan depending on the condition of engine oil. SOLUTION: The engine oil level adjusting device 2 comprises the oil pan 3, a sub-tank 5 communicated with the oil pan 3, an oil feed motor 6 for changing over an oil feeding direction between the sub-tank 5 and the oil pan 3, an oil temperature sensor 7, an oil level sensor 8, and a control part 9. The control part 9 determines an adequate oil level in the oil pan 3 in accordance with an oil temperature correlative to viscosity, compares the adequate oil level with a current oil level and drives the oil feed motor to achieve the adequate oil level. Thus, the oil level is kept as required at different times and the friction of a crank shaft in contact with engine oil is reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
