A hybrid mode mobile communication terminal supporting an EVDO(Evolution Data Only) and an SVD(Simultaneous Voice and Data) service and a method thereof are provided to enable a user to make a phone call to others while downloading or transmitting data due to performing a voice communication while using data communication by using the EDVO service. A hybrid mode mobile communication terminal supporting an EVDO(Evolution Data Only) and an SVD(Simultaneous Voice and Data) service comprises an EVDO processor(330) and an SVD processor(340). The EVDO processor(330) supports an EVDO service via an EVDO channel. The SVD processor(340) supports an SVD via 1x channel. The SVD processor(340) disconnects an EVDO channel and switches to the 1x channel such that the data communication and the voice communication are concurrently performed when a voice communication is made via the SVD service while the EVDO service is used or a data communication is made via the SVD service while the voice communication is used.
