<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve smooth idle mode handoff in an overlapping region between cells. <P>SOLUTION: A idle handoff method in a mobile communication terminal comprises: judging whether or not the mobile communication terminal is located in the overlapping region between a first cell as a service region of a base station captured at present and a second cell adjacent to the first cell; monitoring frequency channels other than an active frequency channel being serviced at present from a base station of the first cell when the mobile communication terminal is located in the overlapping region; extracting a frequency channel with the largest signal intensity; judging whether or not the extracted frequency channel is the one to be serviced by a base station of the second cell; and performing idle handoff from the base station of the first cell to the base station of the second cell when the the extracted frequency channel is the frequency channel to be serviced by the base station of the second cell. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
