<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform a user so that the user knows types of errors related to the data access and the mounting of a cartridge occurring when a color agent cartridge provided with a data storage element is mounted to a printer. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 31 transmits the state when the cartridge 107F is not mounted to the printer 1 to a host device in the printer. The host device displays an error message of no cartridge and a message of its handling method. When a communication error occurs in-between an EEPROM 13, the host device displays a message of the communication error and that of its handling method, and further, it displays error messages of ink shortage, expiration of validity of the cartridge, the state that the cartridge name is unknown or the like and those of respective handling methods on the basis of the information stored in the EEPROM 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
